It seems like many people around me are facing tough situations lately. Some are struggling with their relationship with God, some are fighting vicious rumors, others are just on a run of bad luck. I myself am in a position where I am sorting out some tough decisions. James 1:2 says to “Consider it pure joy when you face trials of many kinds.” I have a hard time being joyful during a struggle but obviously it is in the Bible for a reason. When we face things we don’t want to face, we become stronger, wiser, and more sensitive through the process. Whatever you may be dealing with, take joy in the fact that God is right beside you and nothing is too big for Him.
I know sometimes you feel like you’re going a million miles an hour. Usually when we start feeling overwhelmed, the first thing to go is our Bible and prayer time. I think a lot of us are under this fear that we have to spend a half hour reading and an hour in prayer or God won’t honor our quiet time. I know sometimes you just don’t feel like reading at the end of the day. I think God is ok with that sometimes. I feel like God’s word for us is “just give me a chance.” You don’t always have to stop everything you’re doing or feel guilty for wanting a little down time. Just give Him a few minutes to show that He is important. I believe He’ll give you more rest in those few minutes than you could have ever received on your own.
