In this final part of the story of Jehoshaphat (2 Chronicles 20), we read an absolutely amazing story of faith. Jehoshaphat receives word that a vast army was going to attack them and he declares a fast. This was the same army which the Israelites were warned not to attack previously. Jehoshaphat prays and God answers through a prophet. Verse 15 (NIV) records, “He said, Listen, King Jehoshaphat and all who live in Judah and Jerusalem! This is what the Lord says to you: ‘Do not be afraid or discouraged because of this vast army. For the battle is not yours, but God’s.”
What a promise!! Verses 22 and 23 record an incredible story, “As they began to sing and praise, the Lord set ambushes against the men of Ammon and Moab and Mount Seir who were invading Judah, and they were defeated. The Ammonites and Moabites rose up against the men from Mount Seir to destroy and annihilate them. After they finished slaughtering the men from Seir, they helped to destroy one another.”
Friends, we must learn to trust God even when our surrounding situation tells us otherwise.
